Props to the fella that runs jeep-xj.info
I just left my module in, cut and sealed the wire for the VSS. Connector doesn't get dirty so I can put it back if required

lol I know, I deserve it. That was just temporary, I did that at like 9 PM in my driveway. I've dipped the tips in RTV now and wrapped in electrical tape.

Hey salad, I decided to remove the DRL module it keep it clean. Once I jumped pin 1 and 4 on the DRL connector I spread some Die-electric grease then wrapped closed with electrical tape. Could I be causing a problem with regards to the VSS ( vehicle speed sensor?).

I take it the VSS is used to send a signal to the DRL module that the jeep is moving so turn on the DRL...Would that be all it's used for?.

No that's fine. The VSS runs into your PCM for speedometer, TCU shift points, odometer, etc.

If it's US spec, it likely doesn't have DRLs. Canadian and some (maybe all?) export models have them.

Define "all the time."
They stay on until the battery dies?
On when the key is in the ACC position? When running? When in forward gear? When in any gear?

it won't drain my battery, they turn off like a min after i turn my car off but other than that they are always on no matter what, when I'm not moving, when I'm driving, no matter what gear even when my driving lights are off

Gotcha. There's a connector near the battery on the fender with 8 wires. If you interrupt (cut or wire in a switch) the red/white wire, I'm told it'll kill the DRLs. I don't have an electrical diagram for late model XJs, and my '01 didn't have them.

thanks for the link but it looks like it is for the canadian models, it shows the module in the same area as I'm looking and there is absolutely nothing there, just that random plug that doesn't even match what the module is suppose to have. would the headlight delay module be why they stay on all the time then when theres no power shut off? If so where can i find that delay module?

Yes most likely. Do your lights go off when you flick the highbeams?

I'll look up the delay module when I get back to my PC.

i figured it out....
the previous owner wired up his own DRL setup using a relay and a fuse. found his setup behind the steering wheel, disconnected the fuse, capped off the one wire and removed the relay and ground wire and I'm good to go
Thanks for all the help!
