Driving with no front axle shaft (pass. side)
I broke my passenger side axle shaft this past weekend. I went ahead and pulled it tonight but dont have the money for a replacement shaft until next week when I get paid. I put it all back together minus the shaft, will it be ok to drive it without the shaft? I was figuring it wouldnt be a problem hence why I went ahead and put it all back together but thought I better ask just in case. BTW its a 2000 XJ

If you don't have the outer in at least, you would be lucky to get it 100 yards. You need that in to keep the wheel bearing from falling apart. With the axle out, the diff is now open to trash and loose the gear oil. If you need to drive it, put the axle back in.

No do not do it the wheel bearing will fall off along with the tire!!!! Swear its not like a 2wd those still have giant bolts where the axle shaft bolt goes. The 3 bolts holding the wheelbearing on will be the only thing holding your tire on.

separate the shaft at the U-joint (if you havent done that already ) then put the outer back in. Stuff a rag in the axle tube all you gear lube doesnt come out.
