Default Driveshaft issues

Ive been having some driveshaft angle issues with my 91 cherokee 5 speed. It has roughly a 6 inch lift. I broke my rear driveshaft. I have a rear driveshaft out of an auto. I was wondering if i could take the cv part off of a front cherokee driveshaft and put that on the rear auto shaft to make a home made rear cv driveshaft. I fugured cause the auto rear driveshaft is a little shorter the cv part of the front shaft would make up for the length and maybe give me a better driveshaft angle. I was just wondering if any one has tried this before. Let me know.

It will add too much length even with a 6in lift, you would need to shorten the shaft.

there is some incorrect info in this thread.

the ax15 is shorter than an aw4 so a longer rear driveshaft is required.

an aw4 front driveshaft with an sye will work on aw4 equipped jeeps with an sye.

some grand cherokee front shafts are slightly longer and will work in your application, I am not sure which shafts though, you will have to do the research yourself.

it's not just the hack and tap with the adapter that will accept a front shaft, most any h-d sye will work, such as porc or advance adapters. (a super short sye will not)

also rear pinion will take play into here. dana35 pinions are about an inch shorter than a dana44 or 8.25 and will require a longer driveshaft.

Oh yes, with the hack n tap you would use the whole front shaft, but he wanted only to use the double cardan joint with the rear shaft.

it would be hard to drill unless you cut a least an inch off the shaft they are hardened

depending on what trany and rear end you have
I have aw4 and a 8.8 rear so one inch and a front shaft matching my 91 is perfect

I dont have an sye and I dont have the money for one right now but I want something thats gonna give me a better driveshaft angle and not bind up when im wheelin. I was thinking of doin something like mikes. I have an AX15, np231, and a d35. Hey Mike, what rear driveshaft is that? Is that out of a standard cherokee or an auto?
