I have a 96 XJ and i am having major trouble with the drivers door latch. My key will only unlock it about 10% of the time leaving me locked out unless i climb in the pass side.
from the inside i cant unlock that side at all, the button wont disengage the lock. I have already opened up the door and the rods are not bent everything moves smooth and looks to be fine.
Now turning the key is smooth both ways so i dont think it is the key lock cilynder it has to be the latch right?

Question comes down to this. If i go to a junk yard what years should i pull parts from that will fit my 96?

Any suggestions or things i should look for? anyone else had this happen?
