Driver Window Ratchets
The driver window on my 2000XJ "Ratchets" when it reaches the top and bottom of it's travel. Another way of stating it would be that the mechanism in the door that runs the window up and down makes a clicking noise when you run the window up or down and the window reaches it's limits either way.

sounds like the gears are slipping on their track. pop off the door panel and have a look in there. it may be out of alignment.
