So I'm having an issue with my door lock on the driver side (thus the title) the cover thing doesn't sit correctly on it and yesterday I almost had to break my key to get it out off the door. Now it is difficult to turn to lock or unlock and to get the key out. What can I do to fix this can I pick one from a jy? And if I do will I need to get a new key, and last how would I get the old one off?
This is what it looks like.

Oil her up real good and work it back and forth. If you get 1 from the j w you'll have to get a new key made. All of them are never alike. There should be a but that holds it all together on the inside of the door panel

Theres another piece on that lock called a shutter it keeps water and crap out of the key hole. When it came loose its probably inside the lock if you can get it out it would probably work fine.
You could get a used lock and take it to a local locksmith they can key it to match your old cylinder for little of nothing.

I was also thinking would it be possible to take the lock from the passenger side and put it on the drivers side?
The shutter has been stuck open for a couple months but the plate in front only just started practically falling down and spinning free, when that happened is when I started having issues with it being difficult to turn.

Talked to the lock smith near my work today, they said they could repair the lock it would be about $60 if they took it out fixed it and put it back in, or $20 for the repair if I brought it to them. So is taking it out difficult at all, I know it's going to be awkward but aside from that is it hard to get in and out?
