Drive line u joint question
If my u joints are bad on my drive will it cause a vibration that makes you feel like your pinion gears are going bad! and also cause deacleration? It seems like it happend over night. Went to work and noticed that while i acclerated their was a pretty nasty vibrationat at about 55 and up. I just changed my diff fluid my gears fluid ect all looked good didnt find any metal anything. Also had my tranny fluid changed probaly bout 2 months ago. Any help would be greatly appericated! Thanks Guys

Bad u-joints can definitely cause a vibration like that. When you changed the diff fluid, did you check for play in the pinion? When I did my diff fluid, what I did was stick a long, hefty screw driver inside the pumpkin, underneath the pinion gear and push down on the end of the screw driver to check if there were any up/down play in the pinion.

Yes you will vibrate! I vibrate around 40-50 mph and then it goes away after that. I'm changing my front u joints tomorrow.

SERIOUSLY change them now, unless you like getting towed. I felt the slight vide and slop in the driveshaft early on but didnt change them out, driving to work one day it got super bad then snapped on the freeway and broke the yoke on the diff in the process.
it was a cheap fix though, $15 jy yoke and the u joints were $10 each

^^ yeah you don't want that happening. Whenever something breaks in my rig, I always say, if you gotta replace something, might as well upgrade while you're at it! So if I were you, I'd put in some nice Spicer 1310 Ujoints in that driveshaft of yours. That way, you know they'll last.

Other things to check when it comes to driveline vibes are motor mounts and the transmission mount. More than likely you have a bad u joint though. It's more likely that than a bearing somewhere.

U joints are pretty cheap and pretty easy to change. It more than likely solved his problem or else he would have come back asking what else to check.
