A few years back, I recall seeing some pics on Kolak's site about a mod to fix the "pinch" in the downpipe on the XJ exhausts.

Well, that info seems to have vanished as he revamped his website.

Anyone know if someone sells a kit to replace that pinched pipe or if I would need to have something custom made up to replace the pipe?

Thanks!

would you really gain any real performance from removing that small pinch?

I doubt it’s going to add HP or produce sizeable gains, but going from pancake to normal diameter has to help with flow.

Anyone done this and can report with some status on drivability, etc?

I replaced mine when it rusted out. Not much, if any felt gain, but I also lost the cat which is suppose to help flow as well. If I get her road-ready I'll put the cat back on, but for now she's a trail rig.

I did notice the truck ran a bit smoother at idle, and at lower RPMs.

I'd think $56 would be money better spent on one of those than $256 spent on a CAI. Not as purty though.
