Default doorless speaker mod

so i recently took my doors off and was missing the front speakers so i decided to fab some up in the dash. i bought 4 inch kickers for 40 bucks online and cut my dash to fit them and i think it looks pretty good for a sawzaw job lol. heres some before and after pics. now i have all four speakers working with the doors off!

Do you hit them with your knees? The seem like they stick out a bit too much, not a bad idea though I was thinking something similar

That would be interesting, think there is enough space back there for em? And if you have to have em hang a half inch or so of the back would the plastic be strong enough you think?

i know there is room back there because i have test fitted 6in speakers there. i currently have 2in tweeters back there. i was going to make a custom bracket to hold it down better. also some cherokees came with speakers in that area.

i think its the same as the door. just depends on if your came with them or not. there should be a bracket behind it for the speaker. i have one but im going to be making a better one for a bigger speaker

behind the cover, how is the speaker secured? I'm afraid of getting an annoying rattle from it being loosely secured in plastic

Looked it up on crutchfield.com, stock dash speakers are 3 1/2" in case anyone else wanted to know.
