My 1998 Jeep Sport is not locking. I had removed the panel because my passenger windows would not work. Cleaned the wires and now that works, but the doors don't lock. Both the passenger and driver lock controls will unlock, but not lock. Also, I noticed that the horn does not honk when I use the key pad. What pray is the problem? Could I have bent the rods? Or, is this a wire problem? I have the drivers side kick panel already off and ready to repair. Somebody give me an answer please before it starts to rain on me!

I had something similar happen to me on my 99 a few weeks ago, it just stopped locking, unlocked fine and all....i just locked and unlocked it with the key from the drivers door, i think something started to freeze inside the door, and that seemed to do it on mine

as for the horn im not sure :-/

I should also state that I left the locking rod on while I did this. Could the rod be bent, or is this more than likely a wire/switch problem? Thanks

and to add to my last reply to help diagnose if you already tried that is try to lock and unlock the doors manually from the inside and if one of them tabs doesnt seem to move i would lean more towards a rod issue than an electrical...

It was the rod. I bent it a little. Now all locks work.
Problem is the original problem is back. The driver's side power window controls work but not any of the passenger's. They are not even lit. The lock is not depressed. If it's not one thing it's another. Any advice?

Hmm good to hear about the lock, do ALL the windows work off of the master switch on the driver side? If so then it most likely is the window lock button....that was a prob on mine when i bought it....smack the oval lock button in and out a few times, fairly hard, or tap on the side of the door panel where the controls are, mine still cuts out from time to time, and when it happens the windows dont work (from any switch besides drivers) and the lights go out.....i hope that may help, i thought my switch was killed but...turns out to be a short or something inside the switch for the window lock
