Default Door removal project

well its gettin warmer and i wanna take my doors off. i have a 2000 xj sport.
im wanting to take the fronts off only and im gonna get the star sockets and just take them off the bumps instead of cutting the hinge. the only thing i have a question about is the wiring. i took the kick panel off and i saw the bundle going to the door but i didnt see any connectors for them. i was wondering how i would go about disconnecting the wires without cutting them. if you have pictures that would be very helpful.

thanks in advance

alright, well just a fair warning youre going to have to rebalance the door and it will take a while to get it to how it was stock once you remove the bolts on the door.

anyway, take off the kicker panel (trim piece by your feet that covers the wiring area down there), and it should be pretty obvious which connector is from the door. just trace it, its right there. disconnect and youre good to go.

naw i tried that and there are 3 bundles that turn into one that goes in the door. and i could only find a connector for one bundle. the other two go towards the front and i checked and they dont have connectors.

looking straight at the bundle the black rubber stopper in the center right is the bundle going into the door. the piece that comes up and then curves down is the only part i can find connectors to.

FIRSTS THINGS FIRST:
DO NOT UNSCREW THE STAR BOLTS! THEY ARE TO ADJUST THE DOOR AND YOU WILL HAVE ALOT OF TROUBLE GETTING IT RIGHT. THE DOORS ARE LIKE 60 POUNDS EACH MAYBE MORE!!! It sucks enough having to align the hinge holes to put the bolt through let alone the anjuster nuts. You will regret it!

I have a 1999 Cherokee which has the same set up at you 2001. I have my doors on and off with my custom drivers side mirror in less than a half hour.

For the wires that run through the doors to the kick panel. What ever you dont cut any wires. Just take the little kick panel off and on the Drivers side there are 3 plug in connectors and on the passanger side there are 4. On the passanger side they can be a bit of pain to get to them, but they come out easily. Pull the rubber seal back that goes from the door to the body. Pull the wires through and you are good to go. Doing this is a pain but after a few times its easy.

Here are 2 write ups that may help you out
