hey guys, so last night i went out to my jeep, first the key wouldnt even go into the lock (i live in wisconsin, its been snowing all day, windchill was below 10, you get the idea). after a while, the key made it into the lock, then it wouldnt turn. after i wiggled it back and forth for a minute, it would lock and unlock, but the door still wont open, i can push the button in on the outside or pull the lever all the way from the inside but it doesnt feel like anythings moving, ya know how you can feel it when it actually works? it feels like nothings there. any idears? anything at all would be helpful!! thanks boys n girls.

 

You risk ripping the seals up if you try to force it open, which will compound the problem of water getting in and around the seals and then freezing overnight. It's an inherant problem in owning an older vehicle in a really cold climate like that. I think lubricating the seals with some silicone or even armor all type product after it thaws out wouldn't be a bad idea.

 

I don't think it's the seals, all the other doors open and close just fine, I think it's internal, but I'm not sure.

 

try some lock de-icer.
