Default Door lock actuator

I am going to the pullapart tomorrow to hunt for a mirror. I would like to get my driver's side power door lock working and figured since I had the dore panel off I would get an actuator. Is there anyway to test the actuator before I take it? Can I use a 9v battery or something like that to make it move?

I've used the 12 volt battery from my cordless drill with a couple of jumper wires.

If you can't find an actuator you can use an aftermarket generic actuator mounted in there and splice your factory wires to it.

Someone here did a nice write up on this with pics if u do a search.

Here is the link to the aftermarket actuator install.

I actually did this to my affected left rear door this afternoon and it took me literally 45 minutes start to finish.
Most of that time was digging for tools. ha, ha.

You can get these actuators at any stereo/gadget install shop or supply house.
