Just wondering if this is a standard problem with the 95 Cherokee. The top driver side door hinge broke away from the body and was welded back on by a previous owner.
What should it cost to have this fixed properly and is this a common problem?

Yes, this is a common problem.
I have a right hand drive and my upper doorhinge is coming off as well (so it's not related to the side). There are write ups about the fix. It has to do with the thingy (that holds the door from ' falling' open) is a bit too long, therefore pulling on the hinge. Over time, the hinge will slowly come loose.

You're even missing The Thingy....thats bad.
Although, your hinge has already been welded back on... if its still holding, move it down on the things-to-do list. Just dont let the door fly open to the max too much

That thingie is called a door check and you can order it online but it's pricey.

Bi just went to the pick and pull and found a nice working door and pulled it from that. Like twenty bucks. All model xj front doors. Each side is interchangeable.

Yeah, but that will do nothing about the cause because you replace it with one of the same lenght. There is a replacement kit out there that has the modified door check (previously known as the thingy) of a slightly shorter length.
