That's the same setup I have. Got the mirrors at Advance Auto for around 15 bucks, went to Lowes and got some aluminum strips, I used 2 strips. One on top and bottom of the hinge. Run a blot through. Then bend them together at the end and mount the mirror. I got pulled over for an "unsafe vehicle violation" and almost got it impounded. It's CURRENTLY illegal in NJ. There's no specific law regarding Cherokee's, I fell under the general statute (non-factory door removal alteration) but the court costs were over double the ticket cost so fighting it was a bad idea.

It rains ALOT here in NJ. I think the 4 doors look better with all 4 removed vs the front only. Mines "stock" with just some accessories and removed flares.

Yes cutting is the easiest way to get them off but if you do not have a dreamal it is hard to get in there,so you can take the bolts out after a couple days of PB'ing the bolts and then cut. Also you can get some tube doors and I know a great place to get them. http://www.xjtalk.com/showthread.php?p=9966#post9966

^^ are tube doors considered ACTUAL doors? I get another ticket my mom's selling the Jeep (wanted to buy it from her but chrysler lost the paperwork for the bill of sale over 10 years ago when she paid it off so I'm at her mercy) so I don't feel like taking any chances.

Well you can go to the BMV and apply for a new title. But you need to check local laws on weather the tube doors are considered doors in your area, they are in mine.

I tried the DMV but the jerk I got said nothing could be done unless I could prove the lien was satisfied. My mom and I have been bugging the current chrysler financial co. for probably close to a year and they haven't done jack ****. I will be getting a 07 liberty within a year or so so I may just go ***** to the wall on the XJ and just trailer it with the Liberty. Would you recommend DMV or local PD to ask about the tube door issue?

aircruiser, your '99 had power windows and doors didn't it? Do they no longer work or did you find a way to keep them in use? I'd like to take the doors of my '96 XJ but i'm not sure if I would want to break the power windows/doors.
