ive read in the jp mag,that you shouldnt put lockers in the dana 30 or 35 since they are kinda weak. just in the 44's or 60's. not sure about the 8.25.

X2, i think it's sorta a waste of money, i know someone that couln't quit breaking axle shafts and u joints in a D30 that was locked. i would trust the 8.25 with a locker (up to maybe 35" tires), i plan on putting a no-slip in my 8.25 when i have some $

I "wasted" my money and locked my D30. I dont have the cash, equipment, time, space to put a set of built to the hill D60's under my rig.
Plus spare shafts are WAY more easier to come by for the D30. Junkyard is always filled with cherokees. To date i never broke a axle shaft. but i dont do much rocks, mostly muddy trails. I always carry spare shaft. i can swap out a shaft in about 30mins and be back in action.
