Default Doing a lift, have shock questions

After doing some searching I've found that OE XJ shocks are only good for 1.5-2 inches of lift. I would like to do a 3 inch lift. Is it possible to use JK shocks? The JK looks comparable in size, so I'm guessing ride quality wont be terrible, more firm, but not the rigid feeling with most lift shocks, but seem to sit a little higher so I'm guessing they could handle a bit more lift. Any input

I would contact jason at rough country. Since most shocks run for about ~30-40 apiece, he'll be able to set you up with some decent shocks. I got a 3" lift kit from him (I got a replacement track bar instead of rear leaves, also got LCA's) for $370 to my door. Tell him you're with the naxja guys (best if you actually are) and tell him what you need. When he offers you something, ask him if that's the best he can do.

I just put a Rough Country 3" lift on my 92 XJ. I opted for the new rear leafs as well since the old ones had seen better days. The kit was $550 delivered with new coils, leafs and four new shocks minus the boots. I heard rumors that it would ride rough but I am happy with the ride.

I would go that route cause of their reasonably priced, yet durable products, however suspension mods are illegal in my state so RC shocks would be an immediate red flag, leading to a failed inspection. I have to be more eherm.. "discrete", hence the desire to use factory components from other jeeps.

Rough country shocks are plain white, no markings of any kind. They come with an optional sticker.

Yeah I read up on BB lifts. I'm going with V8 up country coils, upcountry leafs with shackles, and throwing a hitch on it so the inspection wont give me any crap. Just gonna say it's upcountry with the tow pakage

I would go that route cause of their reasonably priced, yet durable products, however suspension mods are illegal in my state so RC shocks would be an immediate red flag, leading to a failed inspection. I disagree I have a 3.5 sky jacker lift and just passed inspection at the Flemington station. As long as your not more than 4 inches over stock you can go thru regular inspection. If you are over 4 inches you have to do a high rise inspection which is only available in a few stations down south.

I would chop the eyes of XJ coils to get that lift and use the main XJ leaf as an AAL

Really? I talked to a buddy of mine who is a fellow Jeeper and works at an auto shop and I was told suspension mods are illegal.... Oh well I guess I'll just make a trip to the local PD and pick their brains. Thanks Skreed.

I was going to do that but upon close inspection I noticed how horribly bad my leafs are shot. my rear bump stops have fallen off, and my axel sits a matter of inches from the unibody rail when sitting on a level surface. So considering how sagged they must be, I figured new packs were in order.
