How about a new fan clutch?
Remove the old rad 1st. Remove the rad hose and heater hose from the T-stat cover. Remove the bottom rad hose from the water pump. Stick a garden hose in the heater hose and flush. Stick the garden hose in the heater hose nipple on the stat cover and flush. Install new fan clutch, then install the new rad.

It's your call on the flush but like u said, u "want to do it right". Most new rad warranties require a flush and fresh 50/50 coolant mix.

So I picked up a new aluminum radiator, a thermostat, a clutch fan, and a radiator cap today. I'll probably get it all put on this weekend... Do yall have any tips or tricks or is it pretty straight forward?

Take pics with your phone before u take stuff off.....the XJ cooling system is one of the easiest to do. Spread a thin film of water pump RTV on both sides of the stat gasket and don't crank bolts down hard.....just snug. Take the old rad out 1st, put the new rad in last. Don't for get coolant (and distilled water if u don't use pre-mix). Raising the rear end up will help a little to drain motor before refilling.

So I was thinking... I'm already going to have like everything out and all lines undone... Should I just install a tranny cooler while in there?
Could never hurt!
Maybe not necessary on your Jeep, depending on what you plan to do with it, but it's always a good idea.............
A cooler tranny is a happy tranny..........
Now would be the perfect time to install one.

have any suggestions on what kind I should get? And I do tow more often than I should for work so I think a tranny cooler would definitely help.
