The title says it all. I want my jeep to be as loud as possible, and have already ditched the muffler, headers are soon to be ordered, so all that remains is the cats. I was gonna smash em out but heard I would need head work, specificly on the valves, and being a dd 100+ miles a day, shop time isn't an option.

Dont smash the cat out (BTW, your 96 should only have 1)
Not to mention, The mods will kill this thread so fast your head will spin if you keep talking about it. lol
Just get a high flow cat, make sure it is OBDII legal and has an O2 sensor bung. Ive heard that a high flow cat makes it louder.

My uncle recently put a cat back on his TJ cuz it was loud and said it quietened it down a good bit so it's not gonna make it the loudest it could be but it may a little. And since no cat is illegal that's out too

I don't plan on smashing it after looking at the complications internally, which is why I questioned a high flow cat. And my 96 is long gone. I was refering to my liberty. If you didn't notice a significant difference with the high flow I'll just stick with ordering the headers.

My wife and most all the neighbors say my jeep is louder than most diesels and thats just by hitting 1500 - 2500RPM in the neighborhood.

I have the stock Manifold, Magnaflow High Flow Cat, and a Cherry Bomb Muffler.
If you are doing 100+ miles a day you want a cat. the sensor just after the cat does a lot with the engine. I went from 16MPG to 10 with no cat, and back to 16 with the High Flow Cat.

I have a 1996 xj Country, I also replaces my whole exhaust from Manifold back with the pieces from Autozone. Cut the tail piece just after the axle, and put an angeled tip.

Thats just me set up and my $0.02
