Okay well i have a 1990 jeep cherokee 4.0 5 speed, and today while making a turn the jeep just kinda started to die on me and I got no throttle response at all. So after looking at it I pulled the distributor cap off and noticed my rotor button had been completely burnt up, the top half was barely there, and the actual distributor, where the cap sits at looks burnt too. So im assuming this would definitely contribute to my jeep not wanting to start, so Im going to attempt to change out the distributor and wanted to see if anyone can offer any advice on this. What is the best way to find tdc and what are the steps to removing it after that? Any help would be greatlyy appreciated!

Everything is good, I actually replaced the plugs, cap, rotor and wires about 3 months ago so i don't know what caused it to burn up like that, I was just assuming since the actual distributor looks burnt too, that I probably need to replace that as well and hopefully I can figure out what would cause it to do that.
