Distributor question

Distributor question
Can you use an 89 distributor with a 91 cherokee? the distributor is the same. The wiring connector is different and has different color wires. The 86 has black, green and red. The wiring connector from the jeep control has orange, white and black w/blue stripe. Can these be spliced to work and what colors would splice together? Thanks.
