Sorry for a boring question (I am just frustrated) - It seems the speedometer cable is the only discontinued part on my jeep :-(

'88 Cherokee Laredo, I6, Manual, 4x4. No cruise control.

Speedometer/Odometer are not working...all other gauges work.

There was a buzzing or whirring noise coming from under the jeep...I unhooked the speedo cable from the tranny and the noise is gone. But, the cable was like frayed/broken anyway.

I've been to the parts yard twice (man...jeeps are cannibalized quickly!) and have also called an all-Jeep parts yard many, many times...I have also called most of the huge online 4x4 sites with no luck.

Is there anything that might work instead? Or, am I SOL? Would a digital speedo work somehow?

Junk yard or check if someone in the forms has a donor.

 

Holy cow...they just might have it (lower part...7 remaining). They have 4 cables listed (3 say for sure they are for automatic)...hoping this one is for manual!
