Different D44 Housings ?
I was curious if anyone knows ?
I have a 87 XJ D44 and a 86 Waggy D44.
My question is, my 87 XJ diff has like 3 factory gussets cast into the housing going from the pinion collar area back to the cover mounting area.
The 86 Waggy only has 1.
It just seems to me the Waggy diff would be built stronger (full size, V-8)
but looking as the factory gussets on the XJ diff. I would think it would be stronger ? Any input ?
Another question, the factory diffs in the Waggy, (both D44's) the front has 3" axle tubes & the rear only has 2 3/4", is that normal, I would think they would both be 3" tubes (again, full size, V-8).
Any input would be greatly appreciater.
