did a tune-up but...

Hey, I have a 98 xj that was idling slightly rough. The CEL was on and the guys at autozone said it was either an o2 sensor or something in the ignition.

So, I tuned it up up and nothing has changed. Should i change the o2 or what. Advice would be helpful. My gas mileage has also been off by about 2-3 miles.

If the CEL was on you should have a code stored. Get the code read and then go from there. Could be lots of things, including an O2 sensor.

How did the guys at autozone come to that conclusion, did they read the codes, what were they?

I would just change the 02 sensor,can't hurt.

They should have told you what it was. Code and all. The scan tools that they use are not the fanciest but tell you the code and the part that it's related to. IMHO it sounds like it would be the O2 sensor.
