Love the idea. even did it. My doors are completely quick-disco but after a week in july with my doors off. the con's were just to much.

My brother was driving a jeep that rolled. an hour befor it rolled, it was doorless. for some reason they decided to put the doors back on right before rolling it. after replaying the scene, the difference in doorless and doors on, would of been the difference in him walking away (like he did) or Life-flight

well it's not legal on the road. so I don't advise driving around with a doorless xj...yes it's a jeep and yes wranglers came w/ removeable doors, but fact of matter is that it was factory-equipped with non-removeable doors and thus is not legal on the road. Trust me, I've looked into it as mine are removeable too.

you may get lucky w/ some dumb cop who pulls u over and believes you when you tell him that they came that way...but 99.9% of cops are not that stupid.

you wanna drive around like that? fine. suggestion to you...get another pair of doors and make a set of half doors.

JeepComJ, I've heard that it is illegal in a few states and in most others it is legal so long as you have a "lip" that prevents things from falling out of the car. It isn't so much that the door removal makes it illegal, its that the mirrors come off with the doors, and most states require at least a drivers side view mirror.

Yeah here its a $700 fine to not have doors on a vehicle that did not come with factory removal door option. Ask me how i know LOL

Also its not legal for me to drive on base without any doors so i didnt have much of a choice.

So i went out and bought tube'd doors and i love them got them from quadratec.

http://www.quadratec.com/products/11046_1000.htm

If your vehicle is a trail rig then the doors off are fine but if it will be driven on the street put them back on!

I will find the crash test videos i have of a 91 4 door xj with out doors to show how much the doors on provide strength to the jeep in a crash it shows a crash with the doors then after and the xj without doors crumpled to pieces they guy would have been dead in a sec and that was only at 30 mph.

I really want to see that video without the doors... The argument always comes up wheterh the doors are structural (unibody will fold like a taco) or not. I WILL stand by that the doors don't support the roof in a roll over...

Unless you install a rollcage in your xj the doors provide a huge amount off roof strength in a rollover along with providing alot of structual integrity in a rear or front end collison.

i'll get the video up when i get home from work the difference is night and day in the crahs with out doors anybody in the jeep would be toast.

I dont believe the doors add much strength. the roof will cave and the door will just peel back.
