yep that wasnt as bad as the head liner, it has some kind of fiberglass fabric or something in it, are you going to rhino line the inside?

I got an 89 4x4 4.0l for $400 about 2 weeks ago. It is rough exterior/interior.. But no knocking and tranny shifts smooth! Heck of a deal. But have over 1500 in repairs to do to all exterior and interior parts to get it in great condition. Windshield, need all lights grille and rear, rearview mirror, 1 of the doors are locked and dented in need to replace hinges etc, heater core clogged... Lots of goodies and I got oil in the air filter. But a very small leak about 1drip or 2 drips a day coming around the oil pan. Dont know for sure where they are coming from but they are not bad for now.

good luck with your ventures. IMO theres nothing better than buying an old beat up jeep and fixing it up nice the way you want it, and not really caring if you beat it up cuz it was so cheap

I second that.. Paid 400 for mine and will put around 2 grand into it total and everything will be in tip top shape. Hopefully make it from 200,000 to 300,000 with not many problems.

It's a '84 so it's either a 2.8 V6 or I think it's a 2.5 I4

Not a direct bolt in his best bet would be to swap in a 3.8L

The bell housing is different than that of the 4.3..

ya its a 2.8 i was really tired when i posted it...just got it home and it was 75 miles one way Hesperia to Menifee....well on top it being so cheap is also the fact the guy gave me two extra transmissions... and a diff...and a few other random pieces...ie the doors and what not....This thing wont being going to get smogged...thats the beauty of being active duty military and having a different home of record...Im out in CA where they are real strict about smog...and with Minnesota plates I will be safe....n its only 100 bux for new plates this thing hasnt been reg. since 2000 Im not paying the back fees f that...Now to find somebody with a welder haha...Anybody live around Menifee or Murrieta/Temecuela area....I m very knowable about Fords...but this my first Jeep

Not to hate on the 4.0l but every other jeep cherokee with a 4.0 has had head probs that I looked at ...As far as a motor swap maybe one day... but I got to get this on the road and diagnose other probs first haha....this clutch should be easy just gotz to do it....And I really dont know how far im gonna go with this...I bought this cause my lil 06 ranger with a 4 banger is not worth lifting and 4 wheeling and all that stuff....and im still paying on it...

forget the 4.3 get a 3.8 aka 3800 out of a camaro and swap the supercharged grand prix top end on it 240hp 280 tq stock real easy to mod to a lot of power wiring might be fun but if u got a whole computer out of a grandprix and harness it wouldnt be that bad
