I was looking through my Hayne's manual to prepare for my coolant flush/ radiator swap, and the book is trying to tell me that inline-6 cooling systems have no rad cap and are pressurized.. Uhh, Im pretty sure I just checked and I have a rad cap. Plus, it said the Coolant Temp Sensor is on the side of the block, but mine has it in the t-stat housing.. Can someone explain whats going on here?

Your reading about the Renix era setup. HO's have the cap and newer cooling setup.

no they are talking about the Renix area XJs,they have a pressureized cooling system,no radiator cap,so you fill through the pressure bottle

Whew, Ok, so is this gonna bite me in the butt when I attempt my coolant flush and rad swap or will it have the same general stuff to remove? Here's how I thought it should go:

Flush;
Prestone Flush Kit. Unplug rad drain plug and drain all coolant. Suck all coolant from overflow bottle. Put prestone flush and water in rad, run car on high heat until operating temp reached. Turn off Jeep,allow cooling, drain again, run water through system via garden hose in top of rad and leave drain plug out. Then, refill system with 60/40 coolant (I have been running warm), fill overflow, run vehicle and allow to reach op. temp. Turn off, refill overflow as needed.

Sound right?

Edit: I wouldn't use water from a garden hose. That water has heavy irons in it that can harm the metals in the cooling system. I always use distilled water, its like 97 cents a gallon at Walmart. Other than that, seems good.
