How hard is it to detag and then retag a vehicle? I want to take off all of the tags and paint them black, and then retag them. Is it simple, or pretty hard? Thanks.

Most of the tags on the vehicle are adhesive backed and once removed they don't go back on very well ... better off buying the tags and then painting those. That way all your emblems are fresh and will stick better.

Thats actually a great idea. Where would I buy those. And how do I remove the current ones?

Screw driver or a small trim prybar, works great, just go slow if you want to keep them. I don't have any idea where to get unused, OEM badges, that could be a problem for you
If your wanting custom badges, or just steel ones, talk to a custom fab shop with a CNC plasma or laser cutter. My work has a CNC plasma I can use, but badges are low on my list. Our plasma will only cut up to 3/8" mild, because of our limited power supply at our building, otherwise it would whip through 3/4"! We can also cut stainless with it and have some 5/16" 304L instock. PM me if I can help you out with that

www.4wd.com would have them. Or if you wish to spend a little more then go to your local dealership.

just a tid-bit of info...many people call removing a V.I.N. plate from a vehicle and putting it on another "re-tagging or just tagging" a body..you may want to watch your choice of words... the JEEP logo from the grill and tailgate are easy to remove with a guitar or piano string

I used a small modeling brush and put some paint in a can cap. Painted what i wanted on the rig.
If your painting over chrome badges it'll peel off eventually.. then just cheaply repaint.

Use fishing line (like dental floss) to remove stick-on emblems. Start at one end, going up/down (sawing motion), finish at the other end. Most auto parts sell the red 3M automotive double sided tape to re-stick the emblems.
