Hey everyone, new here and new to jeeps so take it easy on me. I recently came across a 96 Cherokee sport 2wd and picked it up to turn into a new demo car. Guy I got it from says it can’t be titled so I didn’t ask many questions.

Here’s the kicker, I can’t get it to start. Put a new battery in it, new crank sensor, new starter, new starter fuses. Just won’t start. It will crank. It not from the key I have to push on the fuse to get it to turn. It will crank but seems like it’s not getting spark. When I turn the key I also don’t get anything in the dash. I’ll get one light from the center console but that’s it. I’m gonna go pick up some new spark plugs today and try them out. I was also thinking nss but I’m not sure that’s gonna solve the problem. Any advice?

Perhaps actually check for spark and fuel before you start throwing needless parts into a jeep your gonna beer can. Can't help but ask what difference you think new plugs are gonna do for you if you already suspect your not getting spark anyways.

Check Auto shutdown (ASD) relay?

 

NSS will only prevent it from cranking. Check for spark and fuel.

 

Just curious, did you actually ask who you got it from any questions, e.g. will it start, does it run?

 

...so many questions....

1) when you turn the ignition key to on, can you hear the fuel pump whir for 3 seconds (this will establish if your ASD and fuel pump relays are working)..best to have someone else turn key while you listen...or even, just you, take lid of relay box, put fingers on those 2 relays, turn ignition to on, door open, you can reach

2) Are you getting any voltage at the coil ?..this is direct from ignition switch, no 12v there, no spark

further basic 101 "no start" fault finding etc
