Default Deisel XJ

I'm currently in Iraq by way of Germany. Not new to wheeln' but I am new to jeepn'. I was wondering if anyone can give me some insight on the deisel XJs. I wasn't even aware that they existed until I searched for used cars in Germany for purchase when I get back. I do believe they are the 2.5 TD. What I was interested in was the relibility of the deisel powerplant. If there were any diferances in the trans, t-case, steering, suspension, and chassis. As I plan to give it a mild build. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

They did produce some in the states. They came with a Renault 2.1L I-4 turbo diesel. They are rare though because they were only sold from 1985-87 in the states.

EDIT: In Europe they sold the Renault diesel until 1993. Then from 1994-01 they used the 2.5L I-4 VM Motori turbo diesel.
