Default Defrost

I have a 96 cherokee, when i use defrost the belt squeals and the interior lights dim, but they brighten up when the belt tightens. This morning on my way to college, it did this every so often. What is the problem???

Defrost kicks the a/c compresser on, so theres more load on the serpentine belt. You probably need new belt

Gah belt spray is nasty on these things. Drsigned for old V-belts. I had the same idea and killed what remained if my old serp belt, then spent half an hour digging crap out of the pulleys.

Get yourself a Goodyear Gator Back and keep it tight

^^THIS!!!^^

You never want to use belt dressing on a serpentine belt. Like salad, IT WAS MADE FOR V-BELTS. Not serpentine belts. All it will do is cause premature belt failure.
Try adjusting the belt first. If it looks glazed or cracked change it out and save yourself from the headaches.
