Stock XJ Cherokee Tech. All XJ Non-modified/stock questions go hereXJ (84-01)
All OEM related XJ specific tech. Examples, no start, general maintenance or anything that's stock.
I have a 96 sport.. 4.0, 231, 2dr The seats are stock so I was thinking that this is where I should post. They are the seats without the removable headstand cloth. Does anyone have a line on decent seat covers? Perhaps neoprene or something durable? Got paid today. Clicker finger is itching!! Thanks
Without going a lot higher on cost than I want to right now, I couldn't really find much that I liked. So in the mean time I decided to add seat covers that protect the seat and rear of the seats (where kids kick), with lots of storage compartments. They were relatively inexpensive, and have really worked out well for creating extra storage in the small XJ when camping and such. The front protectors provide 2 small front pockets (each) which are useful for knives, lighters, other small daily-carry things. And the rears have 3 or 4 large pockets and several smaller ones, with multiple water bottle holders and those transparent pockets for dvd/tablets (though I just use them as pockets). During winter camping trips I often sleep in the XJ, so those seat back organizers come in even more handy, as I can have many of things I need right by me when I settle in for the night.
I liked that one option had black with red stitching, which matched the general color scheme of my 96.
Someday, I might spring for the more expensive kits (several hundred dollars for front and rear). But even then I'll put at least the seat back organizers back in, because the extra storage is priceless in an XJ.

I tried to add a photo to my reply... But my color scheme will work well with these protectors as well.. Thanks!!
Different year and different seats. '00 with removable headrest seats. If you are willing to spend the money I say go with the Coverkings. I purchased the Rhinohides about 2 years ago during the holidays at AutoAnything. They were on sale and I had a promo code. Still cost me $320 for front and back. And that was a good deal.
Now I can't comment on how they would be with the one piece buckets in a '96. Here is the link to Coverking and the link to get swatches for various colors and materials to check out.
Now also be aware that I put those removable headrest seats in my '00. She came with one piece buckets. I took the seats apart, separating the upper from the bottom, cleaned them up best I could, put the seat covers while they were still apart, and then put them in the Jeep. My point being I feel I was able to get them on better because they were apart and out of the Jeep. Some shots for you.

No. Some kind of PVC material. They do make Neoprene ones. Seen them on their website. While even on sale that is a hefty price I don't regret spending the money one bit. But you should also understand that my '00 is just a DD. I bought a kinda running not really driveable Sport and got it in my head I wanted to turn it into a Limited/Country/Up Country/European Orvis clone of sorts. My days of thrashing around out there are long over.
Ralphie baby ! Those look awesome !!! Did you put the the leather scent in the car ? My interior is tan too. I cant decide which I want yet ? I have a BIG, 100+ pound American Bulldog that runs around with me all the time. Only problem is white hair ! Here's typically what her breakfast looks like ! Four course !!! Boiled chicken gizzards, colby cheese snacks, mini bagels with very little bit o' Philly creme cheese,,, and two cheap, iced oatmeal cookies !!! That's my little baby girl !!! Miss Bailey ,,, her sleeps in da bed wif her dad, lays her head on my pillow !!! She thinks she's a kid !!!
So, Miss Bailey likes the water too ! I was thinking Neoprene at first, blk/tan. Then considered the leatherette or Rhino Hide ? Guess I'm going to have to request some samples. Also concerned about her claws scratching the material ? Your Jeep looks awesom! Are the black seats hot when you get in ? They look great ! I'm going to have to read up on all of your posts. Looks like there could be a lot of good info ! You do things like I would, and no more thrashing, or feet shaking on the peddles !!! That's when you're 4 wheelin' !!! Just ordered my swvatches !!!

I wish I could tell you I was smart enough to order a complete kit, but I tried to outsmart the system and piece one together. I failed at saving money. I forget where most of the elements came from unfortunately. I believe the springs are Rusty's maybe. 2" with one inch pucks. They were red and that's pretty much why I got them. I thought 2" was gonna be good but it wasn't and my buddy had the pucks. Rear springs were 3.5" 5 leaf from somewhere with the plastic deals between the leaf's. I think the LCA's are RC. 1.5" spaces on the wheels and SYE that came with the Adam's DS, Advance Adaptors maybe?? I should know exactly what parts I have and but I tried to look back in me gmail and I couldn't muster the patience. It all happened last winter and spring. The shocks were cheap white ones from Mexico, I hated them at first but once everything broke in the ride softened up a bit. I hope this answer isn't too vague and wordy.. I'm gonna add a couple more pics for kicks.

No leather scent. LOL. I am extremely happy I broke down and spent the money. Especially since the seat under those seat covers are in so so condition. The driver's seat is really kind of a passenger seat.
Them seem to me that they would live up to their name but could not tell you for sure. And the white air on the black seat would stand out all the time. LOL.
