Default Death Wobble While SLOWING Down

Hey Guys,

I know this has been covered numerous times for when your driving, but i've never seen a post about it happening when your slowing down. It happens when im slowing down between 60-50 mph. It's not a vibration. The entire steering wheel shakes, sometimes more than others. What should i start checking, or should i take the same approach as with all other cases?

Never even thought about that. What would warped rotors feel like when slowing down? Because when im slowing down it feels like the brakes catch and let go in a sort of jerky motion.

Depending on how warped they are it could be a slight vibration or a heavy shaking felt in the steering. It may feel different under different situations. My work van feels fine under normal braking but when going down a steep hill and applying constant pressure they will vibrate excessively.

Check your track bar, i just replaced it, it cost about 40 dollars, just check to see if the rubber at the end is coming apart

Have them checked and if they are not below specs then have them turned. If they need to be replaced then be sure to get quality parts and not the cheap crap. The brake system is one place not to use substandard parts.

Are duralast rotors ok? Im new to the whole brake scene. And since i got the jeep used im not sure as to prior service, but im almost 100% certain the rotors have been turned ATLEAST once. I might just replace them if thats what it is.

Don't bother turning the rotors, just replace them along with new pads, then use a torque wrench to tighten the wheels. If you turn warped rotors, you take a lot of meat off and the rotors will just warp again. The thinner the rotors the less heat they can absorb.

What if my pads are still ok. Should I still replace them?

I'd replace the pads along with the rotors so you don't groove the new rotors if the pads aren't perfectly flat.

Jeep Cherokee Rotors

I've got a 2000 but those are for the years before me. Will it still work, or did they change rotors?
