Death Wobble...again...
I have had DW a couple of times after installing my 3" lift...then i got it aligned and had DW again...
the other day i hit 40 mph and what do you know...theres DW again...
now every time from 39-42 MPH i get DW....
my iron rock offroad adj. trac bar was already in the process of shipping so...what else could it be if not just the track bar?...ball joints?...
thanks

Check, VERY closely, every componant of your stearing system for wear. By this I mean balljoints, tierod ends and all joints in your steering. Wiggle the steering arm where it comes out of your steering box. I have heard of the rod coming out of the box itself, coming loose and causing Death Wabble. You are right to check all pieces of your track bar, as well. Check front wheel castor and camber. If you don't know how to do this, take your XJ to an alignment shop. I hope this helps.

I've found more and more on lifted XJ's that the death wobble is cause by the use of stock front control arms. See at stock height they get a ware in them. When you lift it puts it in a new area causing it to move more.. So I'd say look there..

the most overlooked suspension components are the control arm bushings. mainly the upper axle ends.
anytime i had the deathwobble, it occurred between 30 and 40kph. if you're getting it at 80kph, it's most likely a badly balanced tire or bent rim.
i replaced everything, i mean all rod ends, heim joints, jonny joints, (brand new long arms) ball joints, hub bearing units, etc. including a laser alignment ...still had dw.
so i then replaced the upper control arm bushings on the axle, still there, but not as much.
then upgraded my brand new skyjacker steering stabilizer to a spring over trail master unit and that took care of it.
i know most will say the steering dampener is only a mask, but with larger tires, you will need a stronger one.
