If it would mean that they profit, I would not. I seriously think they wanted my XJ and spent the time trying to sabotage it without throwing a MIL or code.

Dealership service departments are focused on productivity and performing the most profitable work. This generally means ROUTINE maintenance on new vehicles or chasing issues clearly identified by OBD codes. The above post is correct that most dealers don't have any special tools or mechanics to suit older cars.
I have a 34 year old BMW that is as simple as a Jeep. Very neat car. Certainly would not go to a dealer with it. Plus, two honest independent shops have told me they don't have anybody who knows these cars anymore. Have had to track down a good independent guy who loves (and races) these cars. We have a great relationship; I trust him; and he shows me what's needed that I can do and recommends that he do the stuff that requires some special tools or knowledge. That's the ideal relationship.
I'll be looking for that when I finally find the XJ that has my name on it. I'm 66 and not as inclined to do major car surgery over a weekend as I have been in the past...

I would rather spend 2-3 thousand on a refrigerant recovery and charge machine than take it to any other shop within 50 miles of me. I will no longer feed crooks of any kind.

I was raped by a dealership who wanted the money but was incapable of the work. Whether it be incompetence, spitefulness, laziness, greed or lack of respect. Hendrick Jeep Fayetteville NC

Hey Rwp, if you find a good Jeep, you might find you have loads of extra time to goof of on the internet, (Like me). A guy the other day posted he was at 180K and was not surprised something came up. Bullet-proof running gear and that 4.0.....It's my uni-body crumbling at 280K!

If you restate your current most serious issue their may well be someone here with real help. I think this link has fuel pressure, and yea, if you haven't gone to 4 hole injectors, maybe do that before "going in", would rule out an injector issue, while doing something you want to do anyway. Yea, I get being frustrated. Maybe there is an alternate universe where the madder you get, the more likely you will find the problem! (it ain't this one)

Very true. Lesson learned and refocused. Focus on the fix, and document outcomes.
As a side note, I am building a thorough catalog of links.

I'm not sure what your saying?
Crappy work by a dealership? No one on the Forum will be surprised at that. No dealer will ever touch my XJ and I'm unsure why anyone would ever go to a dealer for work.
Oil drip is okay but I wouldn't delay fixing the coolant leak. It can get bigger real quick.

There are hack mechanics at every shop, but any reputable dealership will have far more educated technicians than any private shop.
We see COUNTLESS cars come in daily that have been hacked BADLY by "Joe Bob's Discount Car Fixin' Shop". I just put an engine in an HHR because the customer had spark plugs done at some private shop and the mechanic dropped a bit into cylinder #3.

So you can stick to your unfounded, misguided belief that dealerships are always bad... but A), you're wrong, and B) I'll continue making money off of those shade tree mechanics and private shops that have no idea what they're doing.
You get bad work at a dealership, go see the manager. If the manager doesn't make it right, give their regional manager (of the brand they're licensed for, like GM or Chrysler) a call and you bet your butt something will be done.

I have a nice list of links, but for the 87-90. Btw your post caught my eye because my Dad took his to a shop and got similarly pansed on his AC. It was in his twilight years and he showed me the receipt in his shaking old hands. $500 (in 92), and it was still crap. He was fishen for me to go confront the shop maybe, anyway I didn't. He didn't need the AC, was for his girlfriend.
Your pressure is 49#? (or 41-49?). Somebody should know.

This makes me happy I work with some car nerds, Jeep nerds, and they all have friends who own reliable shops. If they can't help, they can point me in the right direction. I'd go back mad as hell and get some money back!
