^^haha, im sure we will have an answer... eventually!

ya gotta check linkage from underneath. its possible its stretched or, i think there is a pivit point in which a post actuates the two arms (one arm from shift lever to pivit point and the other arm from pivit point to TC) this pivit point i speak of looks like a T with the verticle post acting as the pivit and the horizontal post acting as the connection point for the two arms. if the verticle post is coming unseated, then it wont shift/right. sorry for long-windedness, i hope it helps! also, get a buddy to actuate shift lever while you look underneath! good luck!

Yes...I've tried doing it in neutral, park, while rolling in neutral...

Its a 94 so it need vacuum to engage/disengage correct? I can figure out why I can get the tcase to shift into neutral as well but not out of 4wd...I'm about to give up!!.

There shouldn't be any kind of vacuum associated with the transfer case, it is all mechanical. Also, you can take the drive shaft out, that will be fine. Good luck.

Take a pic of your front axle, I might be wrong but up until a certain year they did use a disconnect style axle where it used vaccium to shift the lever to turn on 4wd. I just forgot what year they stopped doing it

My 88 did it often, i would run the trac selector from 2wd to 4lo back and fourth a couple times pretty hard, lock it in 2wd, and reverse until the light shut off, it was alot like my 93 Exploder.

Ok ill try that in the mornin. If not ill try using a pair of pliers on the shift linkage underneath. Then driving in reverse. If all else fails ill change the fluid. If that doesn't work its goin to the junkyard
