As it turns out, the wire went to the ballast(?) I don't really know what that does, I tried to butt connect a new wire and end to it to kinda "Jump" it. Didn't work. I thinking that I need to go to the JY and get a "new" wiring harness. any thoughts? I'm running out of solutions. When it started to fire the wire and the battery terminal got hot, could I have fried my battery? I tried jumping it today and still nothing....But I did have power, just wouldn't turn/crank. Please help

I pulled the starter, alternator and had them checked, they're good. I finally got the vehicle to crank, but not turn over. Again, the ballast wire seems to be heating up. I just changed the ballast resistor before I tried to crank it. I also replaced the IAC and Map sensor again...I've checked the Haynes manual, and can not find any real reference to it. What could be happening to all of a sudden start this problem....???? I'm at a complete loss. All of my mechanic buddies are stumped too. As always, I really do appreciate your thoughts

If you' have:
Proper fuel pressure
Adequate spark
Proper timing
Good grounds


and the rig still won't start, then it's time to do a compression test.

would any of these solutions explain why i keep frying my ballast wire coming off my starter relay???

have you tryed changing the relay? if you putting to much current threw that relay and in to that wire thats only suppost to hold a certain amount of volts. you could easily fry it.

Excessive power absorption of either the fuel pump or the oxygen sensor heating system.

I apologize for not answering...I had to go to work and I wound up having to drive my father-in-law's station wagon...ugh!!! And I'm in the middle of a move. So today is the first day that I've had to relook at everything. I went out to the rig and the Optimo battery was completely drained. Went to the parts store and swapped for a new one. It started me thinking, so I rechecked the fuel pressure. I didn't have any. Could my problem be that I connected in the fuel pump wires (internally) wrong and that's why I'm all of a sudden not getting fuel pressure and keep, for lack of a better (ie proper) term, getting voltage "Blowback"??? I'm going to try to switch it around again. What's the worst that can happen? It won't start??? hahaha

Ok...pulled the fuel pump. My parts guy came over and tested all the circuits and relays and I'm getting the correct voltage/ohms readings...except the fuel pump. It's reading 6 volts...Is there a regular spot that these things go bad? Also, the pump itself was arcing (thank god I didn't have a full tank, whew!!!!) because the internal wire was touching the top of the clamp(?). He also said that the loss of volts or fuel pump shutting down would/might be due to low oil pressure as a safety shut down, does anyone know if this is accurate??? Again, I appreciate any and all comments/suggestion. I think we're actually making headway. wish me luck.

Well the ballast should lower to 9V, minimum 8, but 6 is def too low. Check the relay.
