Exclamation DD Brake lights not working... not sure why

Today at a stop light a guy rolled up next to me and told me I had no brake lights.
Bulbs are fine. Fuse is fine. Running lights work fine. Blinkers working. but no brake lights.

There was a broken wire to the brake switch, and I fixed that. Still no brake lights.

Where is the brake light relay on an 89? Is there one.

Googled, checked through my Chiltons, will check the NSS tomorrow if I can.

Oh, crap.....I only see one clip/plug on my brake pedal! That might be a problem. Looks like I'll be fishing around under my dash for another plug that goes on the other side terminals!

Thank you cruiser54 for the pics!!!!!!!!!

YES! YES! YES!
Like most other people on here, money is tight, and fixing this quickly and for free was a major help.

Big thanks to CF and cruiser54.

The second plug has to do with cruise deactivation . On renix switch has to be at the sweet spot on flat spot of arm to function properly.

Sorry, was just excited to NOT have spent money to fix it. The second plug was not on the brake pedal switch. I don't know why that would make a difference, but it did.

Exactly! Yes it is fixed, and I am now legal to roam the streets once again.

The semester is also nearly over, so soon I get to play one of my favorite games. I call it "Where does this go?" I look over my XJ and find all the electrical, vacuum, or other connections that are not attached, and attempt to match them up to where they go....it's hours of fun!
