I've read a bunch of forums so far i tore the dash apart to get the switch out i replace the 20a fuse it blows as soon as i pull the switch to turn on the lights any idea where to start digging into this i suck at electrical

Did you replace the headlight switch? If your still getting a blown fuse after you've replaced the switch, then check the ground should be located directly above the hood release in that area.
Could also be a short some where else. Check your trailer light hook up as well. Some of the other people on here have said that will short out as well.

switch is like 15 bucks at autozone. i just had to replace mine as it took out my dash lights, park/tail. as for a way to test it i don't have any idea on that, maybe someone here has some input on testing it.
but yea they're pretty cheap at autozone. they're easier to put in than taking out i can tell you that. i spent a good 30mins just getting mine out.
