Folks, I am having a tough moment. I am trying to find out what size LED bulbs I should get my '91 XJ. I have some new gauge faces and what not on the way, and since it will be out I want to replace the stock bulbs.

That being said, the gentleman selling me the faces has stated that LED's in the XJ tend to die because of heat. If this is the case, what is the stock bulb number for my '91 to replace in the gauge cluster? If there is a tougher LED bulb out there that will give me brighter white light, what is it? I just want white... it will work best with the gauge faces.

Also, what red LED do I get for below the 4WD shifter? And finally, what to use below the actually automatic gear selector? I want white for that as well, not red.

I am being told by the inconsistency of Google that the 194 bulbs are the ones that I need. Is this for all of them? Should I trust LED?

 

The problem with researching LED is that there are so many different kinds of the same type of bulb. What I mean is that there can be 10 different styles of a 194 bulb. On here and other forums, nobody EVER says what specific part number they used, or what specific bulbs they went with. That is the most annoying thing ever to me. It's basically a crapshoot--you order some that you think will work great, and see how they work.

If you search on here there's a big thread about interior LED and will have the information you desire--but you'll waste a lot of time reading through all the threads if you're trying to find which specifics to order.

Also, I have a hard time believing the heat argument. LEDs run MUCH cooler than a standard incandescent, that's a fact. I wouldn't worry about it.
