Dash break light on, proportioning valve issue
I've had the red brake light on my dash since I've bought the jeep. I unplugged the proportioning valve and put the ebrake down and it goes away. I've searched and can't find much on this. any ideas?

One function of that valve is to cut off the front or rear brakes if one end loses pressure! Then you can still stop with the remaining "good" end. Right now you may only have brakes on only two wheels!
Lot's of places do free brake inspections, so there's that. If it did indeed loose pressure and trip the valve you may well see where fluid dripped underneath. One flex line on each front caliper, and one in the middle for the rears, are suspect, then rear wheel cylinders, then there's metal lines and the front calipers.
If all looks fine and the fluid is up in the master cylinder, you can try pressing supper hard on the pedal, engine running, and see if that resets the valve. I hear you can actually feel it "pop," if it resets.

You said you "unplugged the proportioning valve and put the ebrake down and it goes away". Now, what do you think caused the light to go away...unplugging the proportioning valve or putting the parking brake handle down? Hummm
