Default which Dana Spicer part number, 2001 XJ FRONT

I just lifted my 2001 sport with a RE 3.5. New DS and SYE in rear, figure good time to refurb the front shaft. Can anyone tell me which Dana Spicer u-joints I will need, how many, and any other wear items that should be replaced at the same time? TIA

I went to dennysdriveshafts and they had everything i needed for my make and model. If you have a 231 transfer case you should need 1310 ujoints. But check and make sure. I payed the $90 for the entire new center yoke and 3 ujoints. You'll need 3 ujoints btw lol. Also invest in a grease gun and grease to grease the DS after youve cleaned it up.

^ Correct. 1310 series is the size of joints and yokes for front and rear drive shaft on the XJ. Both 231 and 242 transfer cases use 1310.

Here is the rebuild kit; http://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/p107...355x_cent.html

Thanks! Why is the non greaseable version (spicer 211544x) more expensive? I'd rather go non greaseable for strength and i rarely see rain or snow. Plus from what i read the stock piece is non greaseable? Are they interchangeable?

The stock u-joints from factory are the same Spicer non-greaseable.
Not sure what you mean by 'interchangeable'. The non-greasable joints have a precisely measured amount of grease in each cap, the caps should not be switched around because of it. If too much grease is in one cap, it will not fully seat on joint. Trash the old joints after successfully installing new.

I can speculate on cost difference. Non-greaseable requires more metal to fabricate and is filled with high quality grease. Greaseable joints only needs enough grease for shipping and to keep the needle bearings from falling out.
