Theres a pretty good number of people that have converted to leaves in the front. There use to be a Jeep running around Logan UT that had a small block chevy, leaves in the front, and I think a D44, but it may have been a D60. The Jeep was built by a guy that worked for Novak. So yes it is possible to run leaves in the front with a D60.

Now that I think about it there was a member of the local 4x4 club that had a xj with leaves in the front and a D44.

Leaves can be done and I know a few who have done it but it's like going backwards. Also you would need to do a bit of reinforcing on the unit body.

I think what I'm gonna try to do is trade someone for some Dana 44s and run those. Is it possible to use a Dana 44 from the rear so I could use a 60 in the rear? I ask cuz someone has already offered a trade for a 44 for the diffs

So some 44s are as much work as sticking 60s in? Even if it's a 44 from a xj? Would it be possible to change the front 60 to coils instead of leafs?

Its actually somewhat common. Read up on the mission statement over on pirate. There's an entire Topic of the Week (TOTW) about front leaf conversions. Many people have done it with great success.

Im in a good mood and dont want to go to bed quite yet, so here:

I wouldn't recommend posting anything over there until you have searched until your eyes bleed.... twice.

X 2,00 on the above . DO NOT post on Pirate unless you wanna be ripped a new one . Ha Ha Ha . It's better for a beginner like yourself (there's nothing wrong with being a newbie either) to be on a friendly site like this place . I belong to a Club/forum where I know most of them , and they/we still tend to be brutal towards each other . If you have ?'s , just ask . There's alot of knowledge here .

a 44 from another xj will bolt right in the rear but the front will still take some work keep the 60's and yes you can make it coils instead of leafs l heres a link

Maby it's just me..... but if you were going through the trouble of putting your xj on tons why wouldn't you want to go with coils/airshocks to get some more flex out of it?

yeah deff gonna stick with this forum still i start the build with my dad and ask when i need help(after posting some info showing im not a tard lol) after looking at those links it seem like swapping to leafs is gonna be alot easier then coils, and cheaper since i have springs already At first i was worried about the 4.0 being to small but i see ppl use the v6 so im thinking ill be good. The only thing im wondering aboutif most ppl use these rigs for rock crawling, which i have no where around here to do it, all my stuff will be mud bogging,so will i still have power for that?

plenty of power as long as you gear it right. you'll be better off doing a leaf swap if you plan on running in the mud.
