Default Dana 44 XJ rear question and toyota front question

Ive got a dana 44 under the back of my XJ... is there a rear assembly can pull out of another dana 44 say under ford or dodge that will bolt in... im wondering if i can find one with higher gears already and maybe even a stock locker of really any type? im really looking for the gears and larger carrier... thinking it might would be cheaper...

also watched a recent episode of extreme and they built the crap out of a toyota front axle and there was alot of aftermarket upgrades for it... i think 79 to 85 mini's is what it said... anybody know how difficult it would be to swap in the front of a XJ? would it be better then a waggy dana44? im thinking the waggy dana44 is way wider anyways right?

Also they did a axle flip on the yota axle... which there axle flip is different then what i thought was a axle flip but anyway they cut the ford 9" style back off and flipped it... then cut the hub welds off right before the ball shape and flipped it 180* too... made it into a high pinion... drilled acouple more holes to bolt in the front of the diff right and it was good... is this possible with most axles? never seen that done before?

Thanks guys!

not sure about the gears but as for the toy axles they have a passenger side drop and the cherokee has driverside you could flip it but that take alot of work unless your a really good fabricator i would recomend it i would look into the waggy axle its the easiest way from what understand

First- The only direct bolt on D44 will be a D44 from a Rubicon.
Second- Toy axles are narrower than Jeep axles.
third- Waggy axles are not a bolt in require brackets being welded on.

Also the only axle that will have a front locker is a front Rubicon D44. And higher gears will also be a few and far between find.

i know the waggy axles take weld on mods... thats fine...i just didnt know if they were stroger then the yota axle on tv... but if there pass drops then theres no point... and i ment the rear dana 44 that came in the XJ's... swapping guts with a dana 44 out of something else to get gears and maybe a locker... i think would save in labor also since you just pull it all out at once and everything shoud already be lined up right for the re-install under the XJ

In theory yes it works and I've got luck 3 times so far.

As for higher gears try looking for a Isuzu rear D44. All is swappable into a XJ D44 and they came with both 4.30 and 4.56 gear sets..

As fro lockers.. Most all factory ones suck cause there just limited slip.

You can do the Isuzu gear swap and add a Lunch-Box locker..

yeah i knew most of them sucked but anythings better then whats in there... lll have to keep an eye out for one... im going to have to regear soon cause the d44 i got back there is 3.54 gears and i got a 5 speed so i got 3.07 gears up front... sucks not being able to play now... but i dont want to regear the front to 3.54 or 3.55's cause it would be a waste... once i get jacked up and bigger tires... planning for the big picture ya know... heck ill probly be regearing before i even lift it! unless i do a JY lift for now... thanks for the info!

i haven't done a whole lot of rear research but are you saying that rubicons come with front d44? and they are direct swaps? and they are factory locked??
What years would I be looking for? any info on this would be awsome. sorry for the hijack lol just really good info there.

its the newer rubicons... they do come with the d44 up front... im not sure about locked though... and from what ive read yeah... there a bolt in swap... but there also high dollar cause there from the newer rubicons and they are hard to come by... it would pretty much have to be totalled out from behind or new from jeep....
