Default Dana 35 to Dana 44 ??

When I replace my model 35 rear with the Dana 44 (from an 88 XJ) will I need to have my driveshaft shortened? The snout of the 44 looks longer than the 35.

Thanks
Denns

I just did this swap. No you will not have to do anything to the drive shaft. The drive shaft from the D35 is a direct bolt on for the D44.

The D35 drive shaft is a bit longer, so if he's putting the D44 under a stock height XJ, it will be too long. On a lifted XJ it will put the slip shaft in a more stock location

Well it only has a 3" lift, so do you think I will be safe?

Oops...didn't think of that, you are correct. Mine has a 4.5" lift...no problems with drive shaft length...not sure with 3" lift.
