The 29 spline 8.25" is a better axle.
Larger, thicker tubes.
The shafts are .01" smaller than a D44.

What do you plan on doing with your truck?

You may be fine with the D35 you've got if you don't plan on doing anything too extreme.

Why put extra money into something that won't benefit your truck?

Yeah...you could buy a shiny set of studs for your cylinder head.

the 8.25 would still be a better option than beefing up the dana even if it has no c-clips

For more off-roading the 8.25 is better stronger bigger and easier to maintain and upgrade, gears the other thing that no ones mentions is you have no abs for off-road that's good you stop nice and fast but for daily use vehicle it sucks especially if you live in the east coast.

Really depends on what type of driving you're into...
Dana 35 works fine but if you want more and you need it then go upgrade to 8.25....
