2001 xj with 140000 miles. Driver side inner bearing and universal joint worn out. Is this a total rebuild or just fix what is worn out? Anybody have an idea how much?

Inner bearing?
Are you taking about the carrier bearing?

It is the bearing that is on the axle tube right before the universal joint. Also, does this axle have a "c" clip that holds the axle shaft in the diff?

the only bearing thats on the axle tube would be on the carrier unless your talking about a wheel hub bearing. if it is the carrier bearing you might as well do a master rebuild kit and give it all new stuff so its all the same and dont have to rebuild it later on again.

Depends what bearing you are talking about, as far as the u joint goes you can replace that yourself or pay a few hundred for a shop to do it

the u joint should take u more then 30 minutes to replace unless your shafts were like mine. the caps on the u joint were rusted to the ears on the shafts it took about 15 mins longer to get them free
