Default dana 30 leaking source?

my 90 XJ has the vacuumm disconnection front dana 30, it has the posi lok cable installed. it has never had a leak in the three years i have owned it. i just got back from a trip to muddy gras and the next day i have a pool of gear oil that is leaking out of the passenger axle tube, right where that little white seal is.
Where inside the diff is a seal that could need replacing? Or do i just need a newer better seal on the outside of the axle tube? like these?

Are you talking about the end of the axle? Is it leaking by the U-joint? The seal for that in the passenger side is acessed through the vacuum disco housing

yeah it is leaking at the end of the passenger axle, right out of the u-joint. so if it is leaking out that vacuum disco housing is there a seal near the carrier that is allowing it to get past there and then passing through the CAD area as well?

the seal that is leaking is the seal thats located in the cad housing. axle tube seal. The seals you linked are not for sealing gear oil into the housing, they are for keeping debris out of the axle tubes.

is that relatively easy to fix?

i knew they weren't for keeping the gear oil in, but after 22 years do you think i should replace those things?

the white plastic dust sheilds are garbage. The ones you linked are far superior.

The seal is an easy fix, pull the hub and axle out, take the cad housing off, pound out old seal, pound in new seal.

If you are gonna buy the superior outer tube seals wait to replace your inner seal because you need the axle shaft out to put them in.

isnt there a seal in the carrier that would be needing attention too?

Yes! Ty for putting up a link to those outer axle tube debris guards. I was hoping there was a higher-tech solution to such stupid cheap plastic things that were obviously added at the last minute as an after-thought by Chrysler.

no, not unless you want to replace the drivers side also, that one is near the carrier.

when there is no vaccuum disco, the seals are located on either side of the carrier housing. when there is vacuum disco, the seal is in the axle tube inside the disco housing.
