Default D44 yoke

alright, so this morning my dad an I went to the junkyard and picked up a cherokee D44, but someone decided to take the yoke, ID tag, and 3 of the cover bolts from it.

why? i dunno. so I need a yoke for it. I googled one and found this: http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.as...mpaign=product
i noticed that it says "Dana 30/44" does that mean that i could get one off of a Dana 30 front axle and it will work?

If your gonna have to buy a new yoke might i suggest getting one that uses u-bolts vs the bolt/strap setup. It'll be a stronger setup.

Offhand i dont remember the application but i'll bet a call to your favorite vendor/parts house will be able to set you up.

Yes a 30 yoke will work on a 44.

More then likely they did that so no one else would want it I strongly suggest going to yukon gear or other vendor and buy a chromo yoke with a 1350 size.

Sold the J/Y axle to my buddy for $200 then sold the other one on craigslist for $375

At the end of the day i walked out with a free axle for my rig and a free parts rig.

yea ya just gotta keep lookin. i think i've got really lucky cuz this is the second one i've picked up. but ive also seen many XJs with the rear axle gone, which leads me to believe they had D44s cuz no one would waste there time and money pulling a d35. so theres been quite a few d44 xjs in the junkyards i go to.
