I recently bought & installed a used D44 with a Detroit full locker. During the test drive I wasn't able to get the locker to unlock around tight corners, I should also mention it was raining at the time. I even coasted in neutral on a tight left turn and could hear the tire slipping.

Would it make a difference if it was raining during the test drive?

So far I've not experienced any of the banging or ratcheting noises I expected.
